I have been walking with A Foot In The Chilterns since 2017 and it has become a big part of the well being of my life ever since.
I joined to exercise in the beautiful surroundings of the Chiltern countryside but have gained so much more - meeting wonderful people along the way plus some very well behaved dogs!
Anthea has an impressive knowledge of nature & the local history of this stunning landscape so you cannot help but be enthralled plus enjoy some wonderful independent & sustainable hostelries along the way!
As if that is not enough Anthea's’ background as an occupational therapist makes the perfect combination of safety and encouragement that no matter what your ability you will benefit .
It is important to add that during the Covid 19 pandemic both Anthea and Bridget have maintained a robust risk assessment protocol to enable those who are able to continue to exercise and benefit from both fitness & social interaction which is such a key part of life . I look forward to many more fun times with A Foot In The Chilterns !

Thank you so much for organising yesterday’s lunch. Heather has put it very well, it takes a lot of your time and effort and is much appreciated by us all. The setting was lovely, the weather fantastic and the food was good.
Hope today’s lunch is as good as for you all.

I have walked with Anthea since 2015 and really enjoy being part of her very friendly group of Nordic walkers. Anthea has shown us so many beautiful walks around Henley which I would not otherwise have discovered, as well as further afield in the Chilterns. She has a good selection of walks each week when we benefit from her excellent local knowledge, and she regularly organises longer walks and trips to interesting places. We have walked the Shakespeare Way, the Oxfordshire Way and the Chiltern Way with her and her organisational skills in arranging these are second to none! Nordic walking is an excellent way to keep fit, and so enjoyable being out in the lovely countryside with good company. Anthea has taken us to the UK Nordic walking Festival in Dorset, and also organised walking holidays for us in the Lake District and Austria. This year we are going to Edinburgh for a week. I have made some very good friends since joining A Foot in the Chilterns and would highly recommend Nordic walking with Anthea.

I have Nordic walked with A Foot in the Chilterns with Anthea for many years now since 2012. I regularly enjoy fantastic walks in the beautiful Oxfordshire countryside together with great company on the walks and we get both good guidance and advice from Anthea as well as a wealth of local knowledge. There are also opportunities for map reading courses, first aid courses, sponsored walk events together with organised walking holidays in the Lake District, Dorset and most recently in 2018 Austria. Altogether it is a fabulous group to join and I have made many life long friends within this group whilst maintaining a regular good level of fitness. Well worth trying!

Hi there, thank you both for the excellent map reading and use of compass session last week it was very helpful. I too have certainly gained a lot from the Nordic Walking, and feel my fitness has improved, and appreciate the good company of fellow walkers and all the encouragement that you give.

Wonderful walking in stunning countryside interspersed with an amazing lunch! A perfect day.
Thank you again.

I have been Nordic walking for several years but have only recently joined this group. Now in my third month of walking three to four times per week, I am feeling so much fitter, my aches and pains have gone (achilles and sacroiliac) and my body has started to change shape! A great route to all round fitness and a great way to admire our beautiful countryside. Thank you Anthea for your expertise, enthusiasm and sense of direction!

I finally actually like exercise! After being a complete novice to Nordic walking (my idea of walking was ambling along w a dog) I am hooked completely and feel so much better for it. Highly recommended.

I so enjoyed today. A big thank you for your efforts in organising the walk and lunch. I know a lot of effort had gone into making the day such a success. Ann

Having now been Nordic walking regularly for just over a year my fitness has improved to such an extent that I have now been able to reduce my intake of medication and insulin. Who says a pensioner has to grow old gracefully!

DT

Lovely walk. Super people. What more could one ask for. Thank you.

Feel fine today .... Really enjoyed it and think it might be my "thing" combines good exercise with outdoors, where I am most happy.

Annie

Just to thank you for a lovely walk and chat - It really made me feel good. Just being outside towns, shops etc…in the middle of the nature feels very refreshing.
It has opened me such a lovely outlet for more than one way; especially currently when I am still off work. I much prefer this to going to the gym!!

I meant to drop you a line about the course, and got waylaid (by life, the universe and everything). I really enjoyed your introduction to Nordic Walking, and feel that it's one step (or many) up from my usual morning walk, with the added upper-body workout; so thank you very much.

Gloria

Thank you for 4 great 1:1 Nordik sessions. Although I had walked before, it was great to have a proper refresher course and I am now really looking forward to joining some group walks.I particularly enjoyed four different and contrasting walks - hard surfaces, soft surfaces, uphill, flat, woodland, open country -  and weren't we lucky to avoid the torrential rain!  Your knowledge of the local area is a real plus. I also think that your website is great, and I hope that it will encourage many others to join your group walks.
