The unpredictable and varied weather in England contributes to the amazing experience of walking in this area. The Chilterns and Thames valley have a micro climate of their own and these changing conditions contribute to the spectacular vistas.

You need to be prepared for variations in temperature and accept that it may rain so you are advised to bring comfortable clothing that will give you protection. For all walks please wear suitable footwear for walking and if in doubt please ask when booking.

For Nordic walking in particular ensure that clothing and footwear allow movement so avoid very tight fitting clothes and footwear that restricts ankle movement such as wellington boots.

Nordic Walking is a specific fitness technique and is not to be confused with trekking, hill walking or trail running as the poles are not planted in front of the walker/runner but in a specific way that increases the use of the upper body. For all ‘Learn to Nordic Walk ‘classes poles can be provided on loan. Advice on the purchase of poles is available for those wishing to purchase their own poles and discounts can generally be negotiated.

A small stock of adult clothing is available to borrow depending on what is required.
